Annual Meeting 2025
Friday, October 24
5:00 – 7:00 PM
The National Arts Club
15 Gramercy Park, New York, NY
This year’s Annual Meeting will take place Friday, October 24, at the National Arts Club, located in the historic Tilden Mansion on Gramercy Park. Samuel J. Tilden (1814-1886), the 25th Governor of New York, purchased two adjoining Gothic Revival style townhouses, built in the 1840s, and quickly hired Calvert Vaux to modernize the home in the Aesthetic Movement style in 1863. Replete with interiors showcasing the glass artistry of John LaFarge, Donald MacDonald, and the firm Ellin and Kitson, among others, the Federal government declared the site a National Historic Landmark in 1976, recognizing the Club’s conscientious stewardship of the building.
Founded in 1898, the National Arts Club moved into the Tilden Mansion in 1906. Strikingly, the National Arts Club admitted women on a full and equal basis from its inception and has a long history of “exclusivity through inclusivity,” continuing its tradition by welcoming all artists. To learn more more about the history of the club, visit their website (click here). Alumni may enjoy visiting the fall exhibition “Influence and Identity | Twentieth-Century Portrait Photography from the Bank of America Collection,” before the gallery closes to the public at 3:00 p.m. To learn more about the fine arts collection and temporary exhibitions, visit the Club’s website (click here).
This year, the AFA is pleased to offer complimentary admission to the Club for our meeting and reception. We encourage any person residing in the United States who has completed a course offered by The Attingham Trust to join us as we visit this treasured, New York gem. We kindly ask guests to consider making a small donation of $20 in lieu of admission to offset our costs.
